179 Passengers Killed, 2 Survive In South Korean Plane Crash

SOUTH KOREA – Tragedy struck at Muan International Airport on Sunday, hen a Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 crashed, killing 179 passengers and crew.

Two crew members were rescued from the wreckage.

The plane, returning from Bangkok, skidded during landing after a bird strike warning and a suspected landing gear failure. It slammed into a concrete wall, bursting into flames.

South Korea’s Acting President has declared a national mourning period, as authorities are investigating safety measures at the airport and across the airline’s fleet.

This marks the deadliest aviation disaster in South Korea since 1997.
