Acting Parlimentary Commissioner Transferred, Amid Local Goverment Controversy

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Amid talks Acting Parliamentary Commissioner Arthur Taylor has been removed and reassigned to another government agency, National Security Minister Wayne Munroe is telling a different story.

Munroe says when he returned from vacation this week he was advised Taylor had sought and been granted vacation leave.

It is unclear where Taylor will be transferred.

The news comes after heavy criticism of the department’s handling of the recent local government elections under his watch, which was smeared by delays, ballot errors, and administrative misteps across multiple family islands.

Munroe did not say if this played a part in his transfer.

Free National Movement Leader Michael Pintard called the matter concerning.

The national security minister was asked if he was satisfied with Taylor’s performance and his handling of the local government election.

With the next general election nearing, the government will have to appoint someone to the post. Munroe could not say when this would happen.

Meanwhile, the FNM leader is also claiming the government has engaged a Canadian company retained by the government to manage significant access to the election process.

However, Munroe shot it down.
