The islands are a recurring theme in the renowned James Bond Franchise, not to mention the cameo appearances and underwater scenes in a few Bond movies. But how deeply are we connected to the story? Writer Simon Firth looks at Bond and The Bahamas in his new book “Filming James Bond in The Bahamas.”

The 1965 James Bond: Thunderball is one of the firsts movies shot on location in The Bahamas. It’s also a staple destination throughout the franchise.

Writer Simon firth’s new book “Filming James bond in the Bahamas” dives into the relationship between the two and explores how our islands are represented on the big screen.

While The Bahamas is known for its beaches, firth wants his book to be more than just a map for tourists. He says there’s more to The Bahamas than just its waters.

The Firth book launch party is scheduled for June 16th, featuring stars from Thunderball like Bahamian musician King Errisson.

Among the first recipients of copies will be presented to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism Chester Cooper.
