North Eleuthera Resident Says “Enough Is Enough”

NORTH ELEUTHERA, BAHAMAS – Last September, the government signed a $55 million loan agreement with the Saudi Fund for Development for upgrades to the North Eleuthera International Airport. However, residents say they’ve yet to see that investment make touchdown.

These are the issues that have North Eleuthera saying “enough is enough”.

“So this peaceful march is in hopes of getting the attention of the government once again to basically provide us with some feedback as it relates to services and entities that we think that we are entitled to. Namely, the restoration of the administrative complex, the restoration of the public dock.”

“This island has outgrown this dock 30 years ago, and it’s ridiculous. It’s really frustrating. Tourists have to literally run away from forklifts, got to run away from big trucks.”

“They’ve already signed the agreement, and we’re ready to go. We wanna work with the government because a better airport is a better North Eleuthera.”

And with mounting concerns surrounding immigration, inconsistent water and electricity, and a lack of emergency vehicles, North Eleutherans say they feel neglected.
