New Defence Commodore Outlines His Agenda

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – After serving 38 years in the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, and five of those as its Chief, Dr. Raymond King officially passed the baton today during a full military handover ceremony at the Force’s Coral Harbour Base.

King assumed command in 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, and has since led the Force through numerous challenges.

In his farewell address, Dr. King said he departs with a sense of pride in the work he accomplished while at the helm of the Force.

Taking command is Captain Floyd Moxey, a seasoned officer with more than four decades of service in the Force.

In his address, Moxey outlined his key priorities, which include ensuring the RBDF is properly manned, equipped, and trained to fulfill its constitutional mandate.

While those areas are a priority, topping his to-do list is improving the Force’s fleet.

Back in November, senior RBPF and RBDF officers were indicted in a U.S. court on drug charges. Commodore Moxey was asked how he intends to address corruption within the organization.

Prime Minister Philip Davis also attended the ceremony. After paying tribute to Commodore King, he offered these words to the incoming Commodore.
