Bahamians Participate in Basketball Without Borders

U.S.A. – The NBA and FIBA wrapped up the 2025 edition of the Basketball without Borders Americas Camp, and once again, The Bahamas was represented on the international stage with a pair of rising stars.

10th Year Seniors

Terell McCoy and Chris Brown participated in the four-day camp hosted in San Salvador, el Salvador and featuring the top high school-aged prospects across Latin America, Canada, and the Caribbean.

McCoy, who recently completed a standout senior season at the Bolles School in Florida, was named a BWB All-Star as one of the camps top performers among girls.

Brown continues to build on his sophomore season at Dream City Christian in Arizona that has made him a sought after recruit for the class of ’27.

Now in its 14th year, the Basketball without Borders Americas event continues to be a springboard for future professional talent, blending elite-level training with life skills and mentorship from NBA coaches and players.

NCAA Football

The Bahamas Bowl is once again on pause — ESPN announced the college football bowl game will not return to Nassau for the 2025 season.

After briefly moving to Charlotte in 2023 due to stadium renovations, the game returned home this past January, but it won’t be back next year.

Instead, its Conference USA and MAC tie-ins will shift to other ESPN-owned bowl games.

A new location hasn’t been announced yet, leaving the future of one of the biggest events on the country’s sports tourism calendar, up in the air.

Basketball

Rashad Davis is set to return to Caen Basket Calvados after re-signing with the club for the upcoming French Pro B League season.

The 6’3″ wing was a key contributor in his first year with Caen, averaging 9.6 points, four rebounds, and 1.1 assists across 36 games, in just over 22 minutes per contest.

Caen finished 14th in the standings last year and avoided regulation.

Golf

The Bahamas could soon add another international golf event to its sports tourism calendar

Officials from the R&A — golf’s governing body — revealed that The Bahamas is on the shortlist to host the prestigious Latin America Amateur Championship and the women’s Latin America Amateur Championship in the near future.

At a press conference this week, R&A Regional Director Mark Lawrie praised the country as a “phenomenal destination for golf” and emphasized the goal of growing the game locally, especially among youth.
