NASSAU, BAHAMAS – On This Day in Bahamian History 2013: Cyril Darville, who had spent more than 20 years in prison for murder, faced resentencing.

Darville was originally convicted in 1992 for the 1990 killing of 27-year-old Ray Anthony Feaste.

While he was charged in eight other murders, he was only tried for Feaste’s case. A 1996 death warrant against him was stayed after he was declared insane, and in 2006, the Privy Council ruled mandatory death sentences unconstitutional.

2014: Dr. Rodney Smith was confirmed as president of the College of the Bahamas. Smith had previously resigned in 2005 following a plagiarism controversy but returned to succeed Dr. Betsy Vogel-Boze. He later left the role in 2022, choosing not to renew his contract.

2022: Four-year-old Kenton Seymour Jr. was tragically fatally shot while out with his parents. Shanton “Scum Dum” Munroe was later charged with Kenton’s murder and the attempted murder of his parents.
