GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – With Carnival’s Celebration Key now open and the Grand Lucayan redevelopment planned for 2028, the demand for authentic Bahamian products is expected to soar.

GBPA’s Fatima Zarah-Kaboub, who is leading the effort, says the crafter’s academy is positioning artisans to rise to the occasion.

From straw work to fashion week, Fatima’s vision is to elevate Bahamian craftsmanship and meet growing demand from tourists.

 The academy plans to link with artisans from across the islands turning cultural products into value-added items that can compete on the world stage.

 It’s not about competing with existing vendors but elevating the product, redesigning baskets with Bahamian flair.

From casuarina coasters to reimagined baskets, the Crafter’s Academy is proving that culture and creativity can help drive Grand Bahama’s future.
