NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Society appears to be normalizing casual sex, but the associated risks, mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual, often go unacknowledged.

Apostle Dr. Patrick Rhodriquez of Prophetic Love Church Ministries emphasizes that guidance begins at home.

He says children learn values and respect first from their parents, but often parents fail to model the behaviors they expect.

“Parents sometimes are in the same position as the youths. If I am drinking, smoking, living a promiscuous lifestyle and my children watch me, then tell them not to do it, how can they listen? How can they obey me when I’m the same person?” Dr. Rhodriquez explained.

He stresses the importance of biblical principles, consistent love, and guidance to protect children from harmful influences.

“As youths get older, sometimes parents forget how they began taking care of their children. So youths are left to raise themselves. They are vulnerable, easily influenced, because tender hearts are easily broken,” he said.

Gervard Green, 26, Director of Outreach at Fusion Youth Movement, adds that discussions about love and safe sex have become rare, leaving many young people anxious and confused.

“Parents and teachers are more afraid to talk about these things, which creates anxiety and misconceptions about gender and sexual identity,” Green said. “We struggle with who we are as human beings because we aren’t taught correct sexual education.”

Green emphasizes that education starts at home, guided by love and structure. Young people need tools, conversation, and care to protect their minds, bodies, and spirits.

“Our culture says it’s okay to do certain things, to have sex, but the deep, meaningful conversation is missing. No one teaches that sexual activity can create soul ties or even attract negative spiritual influence,” he added, referencing incubus and succubus spirits.

Both leaders urge parents and communities to actively engage with youth, modeling healthy behaviors and providing honest guidance to navigate complex emotional and spiritual challenges.
