NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Denielle Miller’s Women in Entertainment series continues by highlighting a songbird who’s making her mark, with a voice that has captured the essence of soul and charisma.

Charisa Smith is a vocalist who’s captured the attention of both locals and guests with her sultry voice.

Best known for performing with the Essence Band, her enrollment into the entertainment industry began long before the jazz club at Baha Mar.

During her college years, she sang with the jam session band, but she developed her appetite for the stage as a teen performing with the national youth choir.

Despite her cultural performances, Charisa was prohibited from listening to secular music by her parents, who are both pastors.

But she managed to maneuver her way through those restrictions.

Although she says she was intimidated at first, many would agree Charisa’s name is now among the list of women dominating the entertainment industry.
