NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man has pleaded guilty to charges related to a crash that killed four women and wounded eight others during the 2018 Labour Day Parade.

Travis Sawyer, 27, pleaded guilty to four counts of manslaughter by negligence and eight counts of negligently causing harm before his trial before Justice Gregory Hilton.

Back on June 1st, 2018, Sawyer’s truck plowed into a crowd of people taking part in the parade.

The collision resulted in the deaths of 41-year-old Tabitha Haye, 48-year-old Tami Gibson, 51-year-old Kathleen Fernander and 55-year-old Dianna Gray-Ferguson.

Sawyer’s lawyers Carlson Shurland QC and Barry Sawyer requested a probation report to assist the court in determining the appropriate sentence.

A sentencing hearing is set for November 16th.

In the meantime, Sawyer remains free on $8,000 bail.
