GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – During Tuesday’s airing of the radio show “It Is What It Is” on 102.7 “Da Riddim,” host Darren Cooper shared his concerns about a recent ZNS executive conclave held on Grand Bahama.

Cooper says a conversation with a local contractor who claims he is still owed for work following Hurricane Matthew led him to question the cost of a dinner attended by ZNS executives.

Cooper says his comments were not just directed at the Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas (BCB), but at government agencies more broadly – arguing that Grand Bahama is facing a financial crisis, with residents still going unpaid.

He says tensions escalated while he was on air after being advised that Clint Watson was outside the station demanding entry.

Cooper tells Our News he refused for more than one reason.

He says the show ended roughly 10 minutes later.

Watson has since accused Cooper of being politically motivated, a claim cooper rejects, adding that while Watson’s political aspirations are well known, his own motives were about demanding better for the island, and not politics.

Watson says his next step is to file a complaint with URCA.

Our News contacted URCA, which says it has not yet received any formal complaint.
