NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man who robbed a hotel has been sentenced to 12 years in prison in a plea deal.

John Demeritte, 41, pleaded guilty to the December 9, 2018 armed robbery at the Land Shark Hotel when he appeared before Justice Guillimina Archer-Minns.

The Court heard that Demeritte pulled a gun on an employee and demanded cash.
He escaped with $511.

Demeritte is awaiting sentencing for the armed robbery of Bet Vegas in 2017.

Last July, a jury unanimously convicted Demeritte of robbing Onette Dean while armed with a shotgun.

He robbed Dean of $2,000 that belonged to the company and took her handbag, which contained $215 cash and her passport and NIB card.
