ANDROS, BAHAMAS – Six Jamaicans – ages 52, 53, 42, 39 and two at 43 – are in custody following the discovery of four areas of a marijuana field in North Andros.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Ken Taylor and Officer-In-Charge of the Drug Enforcement Unit Roberto Goodman led a team that travelled from the capital into Andros on Sunday.

Police said the Jamaicans could be taken to court as early as this week.

Police said the plants have an estimated street value of $2.5 million; the field consisted of 25,000 plants ranging in height from one foot to eight feet.

There were also 20,000 seedlings.
