The Philadelphia 76ers may have fallen to the Miami Heat, but it was a special night for Edgecombe, playing just a short flight from his hometown, with Bahamian flags in the stands and the sound of home cheering him on at the NBA level for the first time.

The Heat defeated the 76ers 119-109 and Edgecombe finished with 13 points, 5 assists, 2 steals in the loss.

Bahamian fans made their presence felt inside the arena, waving flags and cheering every time Edgecombe touched the ball.

The Sixers dropped to 41-34 on the season in a race to avoid the Eastern Conference play-in.

Lakers stay hot as Ayton contributes

The second seed may be out of reach, but Deandre Ayton and the Los Angeles Lakers are trying to hold off the remainder of the Western Conference.

The Lakers kept their momentum rolling Monday night with a 120-101 win over the Washington Wizards at Crypto.com Arena.

Deandre Ayton continued his productive play of late with 12 points and 7 rebounds.

The Lakers have won 12 of their last 13 games and improved to 49-26 on the season.

Entering the final stretch, every game from here will carry postseason implications as the regular season concludes and the playoff picture takes shape.

Four of their final seven games will come on the road, and four will be against playoff teams, including two against the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder.

McCartney wins inaugural tennis shootout

The John McEnroe Tennis Center and Maison Bahamas teamed up for a new initiative on the local tennis calendar.

The John McEnroe Tennis Center partnered with Maison Bahamas to host the inaugural gentlemen’s singles shootout.

The two-day tournament featured 12 competitors, and William McCartney emerged as champion, defeating visiting hotel guest Finn Coco of Washington, D.C.

Anthony Munnings finished third, Synaj Watkins placed fourth, while Joshua Herman claimed the consolation title.

The sportsmanship award went to Lex Fountain.

Organizers say the partnership with Maison Bahamas helped deliver prize money and successfully brought together local players and international visitors for what they hope will become a regular event on the tennis calendar.
