Lincoln Deal: “I Will Serve Freetown, No Matter Who You Voted For”

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – For the first time in his early political career, Lincoln Deal will walk into the halls of Parliament.

He says its a moment he’s been preparing for his entire life., telling me he’s ready to make a difference.

“I’ve been serving communities throughout my entire life, this is just a continuation of service on a national level. Freetown is such a unique consistency, a very diverse constituency, bursting with opportunity talent. And our entire campaign, we’ve been focused on empowerment, ensuring that person’s recognize their potential.”

While numbers from the voter’s recount on Wednesday haven’t been released, Deal says he won by 75 votes, adding that he was confident in himself, knowing he did the work.

“Knocked on doors, we went and connected with people through this entire community, but it was Paradise Island, East Bay St. Kemp Road, Mackey Street, Shirley Street. Often times people believe that Freetown is only one particular street but the reality is, it’s comprised of all of those different areas.”

Deal is just one 8 FNM’s that will sit in Parliament as an official member of the opposition, committing to holding government’s feet to the fire.

“The budget debate [is] one of the first orders of business, making sure that we flush out those things.”

Then, to his constituents, he says this:

“I represented everyone, whether you voted for FNM, PLP, COI, independent candidate or if you didn’t vote at all. I’m here as your representative to represent you, listen to your concerns, to advocate for you,” Deal said.
