NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Buddy Hield Foundation continued its commitment to giving back to the community this week, partnering with Disney Cruise Line (DCL) for the second consecutive year to support Bahamian students.

Members of the Bahamas Senior Men’s National Basketball Team joined volunteers to pack school bags filled with essential supplies as part of a back-to-school initiative aimed at assisting underserved youth across the country.

The partnership combines the Foundation’s mission of empowering young people through education and opportunity with Disney Cruise Line’s continued community outreach efforts in The Bahamas.

For many of the national team players, the event provided an opportunity to give back away from the court while inspiring the next generation of Bahamian students ahead of the upcoming school year.

Earlier this year, DCL also collaborated with the Foundation for a total revitalization of the sports spaces at Woodcock Primary School, culminating in a community basketball tournament hosted by Hield to tip off the opening of the new facilities.

It included repaved courts and professional painting to new volleyball poles and basketball rims, to create a vibrant hub for student athletes

Edgecombe, Rolle United for National Team Dream

Representing your country is a special honor. Getting to do it alongside family makes the moment even more memorable.

That has been the experience for cousins VJ Edgecombe and Leano Rolle, who suited up together for Team Bahamas during the latest window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers.

Edgecombe, one of the nation’s brightest young stars, and Rolle, who earned his place on the national team roster through years of development, shared the court as The Bahamas advanced to the second round of World Cup Qualifying.

The moment served as a reminder that while the national team is built on talent, it is also built on relationships, sacrifice, and family.

With The Bahamas now preparing for the second round of qualifying, the cousins will hope to continue writing their story together in the national colors.
