NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Sand Wars Beach Flag Football Tournament kicked off on Friday, as 14 men’s and women’s teams are going at it all weekend.

The tournament keeps growing, as not only are men and women’s teams from Grand Bahama and Abaco competing, but for the first time ever, a team from Long Island is also competing.

Also, the Grand Bahama team brought a competitive squad.

If you didn’t make it out today, that’s okay, tomorrow is the knockout rounds and they’re playing for all the marbles.

Team Bahamas Ready to Go in Curaçao

The Bahamas is one of four teams competing at the Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association, or CAZOVA, final four tournament in Curaçao.

In the course of the tournament, team 242 will compete with Trinidad, Barbados, and the host country to see which team is the best in the Caribbean.

The tournament starts today, and everything wraps up on Wednesday.

The Bahamian team consists of:

Gaege Smith
Chauncey Cooper
Rohan Kerr,
Donovan Wilmott
Eugene Stuart,
Kurtwood Green Jr.
Tyrone Sands
Shanori Hepburn
Joshua Bethel
Tavin Brown
Zion Beckford

Along with the team is Head Coach Glenn Rolle, Assistant Coach Prince Wilson, and Team Manager Jermaine Adderley.

If you recall, the team came up short in the final game against Curaçao in front of a home crowd at Kendal G.L Isaacs Gymnasium last year, taking home the silver medal.

Now they’ll try to get their getback, on Curaçao home turf.
