Chisholm Hits Two Homers in Yankees Win

UNITED STATES – Jazz Chisholm Jr. continued his red-hot stretch at the plate, blasting two home runs to lead the New York Yankees to an 8-5 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates at Yankee Stadium.

Chisholm finished the night 2-for-4 with two home runs, three RBIs, and two runs scored.

He opened the scoring with a solo shot in the first inning before breaking a 5-5 tie in the third with a two-run home run to right field, his 16th home run of the season.

The decisive blast traveled 376 feet and left the bat at 102.6 miles per hour.

The performance continues an outstanding stretch for the Bahamian star, who has now hit three home runs in his last two games, including the go-ahead homer that lifted the Yankees past the Los Angeles Dodgers the previous night.

Jonquel Jones continued her outstanding run of form, recording her fourth double-double in the last five games as the New York Liberty edged the Dallas Wings 99-98.

The game was the completion of a contest that was postponed last week after a power outage at College Park Center forced play to be rescheduled.

Jones finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds, adding another double-double to what has been an impressive stretch leading into the WNBA All-Star break.

The Liberty survived a late push from Dallas to improve their position near the top of the WNBA standings, with Jones once again providing a steady presence in the paint on both ends of the floor.

Minor League Baseball

Ian Lewis Jr. delivered the biggest hit of his season on Saturday night, crushing a grand slam to help the Pensacola Blue Wahoos roll to a 16-6 victory over the Biloxi Shuckers in Double-A Southern League action.

Lewis’ blast came during a seven-run second inning that blew the game open. Batting with the bases loaded, the Bahamian shortstop drove the ball the opposite way for the Blue Wahoos’ third grand slam of the season, extending Pensacola’s lead and capping the club’s biggest offensive inning of the night.

Lewis finished the game 1-for-5 with one run scored, four RBIs, and the grand slam, his second home run of the season.

The victory continued a strong stretch for the Blue Wahoos, who pounded out 16 runs behind a balanced offensive attack led by Brandon Compton’s six-RBI performance.

Lewis has shown encouraging signs since returning from his three-game suspension earlier this month, highlighted by his seventh-inning home run against Montgomery and now the first grand slam of his 2026 campaign.
