NASSAU , BAHAMAS – It’s a tradition for many Bahamian families to go out on the weekends for a good breakfast, and while there are plenty of popular favorites around the island, did you know that Cleo Mediterráneo is also a great option?

The restaurant is known for its Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, with a menu that’s popular for its tasty and unique lunch and dinner offerings.

What we were surprised to discover is that they also serve breakfast.

When the Our News team was invited down to experience the morning meal, we were met with a wide variety of options, from fresh, delicious fruits to wholesome grains and cereals, along with an assortment of protein options.

And, of course, there were plenty of desserts for those with a sweet tooth.

Head Chef Keno Anderson told us there’s something on the menu for everyone.

“We try to incorporate a lot of Bahamian as well as international cuisine. We have a Bahamian corner over here. We have steak, sausage and grits. We have our grill station here, steamed sausage and the BBQ ribs over here. We have hot line where we have bacon and eggs, French toast, chicken sausage, pork sausage and your eggs, breakfast potatoes over here.”

The quality and tastiness of the food are evident from the very first bite.

Chef Anderson tells me it’s that careful preparation and attention to detail that truly set them apart.

“We dry our meat. All of our products we make in-house, as well as the smoked salmon. We do that itself as a four-day process, and we finish it off for the 45-minute smoke in our applewood. So, as well as the breakfast buffet, everything like the sauces and stuff we do in the morning.”

While the restaurant can average between 200 and 300 guests, that number can climb to 400 or even 500 during the busy season.

But Chef Anderson says the joy of putting smiles on people’s faces through food makes it all worthwhile.

“We take immense pride, and I try to transfer a lot of pride that I have through my team members. So, you know, they see me taking pride in my work. They do the same, and I try to lead by example, so everybody’s pretty proud of what they do in here.”
