NASSAU , BAHAMAS – For the second consecutive year, the Atlantis Resort has hosted the Bahama Breeze Music Festival.

Headlined by artists including Anthony Hamilton and Doug E. Fresh, the festival also presented a major act with Caribbean heritage.

Our Denielle Miller had a conversation with a member of the Grammy-nominated group Floetry, Natalie Stewart-Maddix.

Saturday night was an electrifying montage of R&B and hip-hop music, courtesy of the second annual Bahama Breeze Music Festival.

The event, which was held in the Atlantis ballroom and hosted by Tricky Entertainment, was night two of the festival’s concert series.

Guests, adorned in all white, witnessed an all-star lineup of performances featuring hip-hop icon Doug E. Fresh.

And Grammy-nominated group Floetry.

Following the duo’s performance, our Denielle Miller spoke with the Floacist of the group, Natalie Stewart-Maddix.

“Let me first say this, wow. That was the first time I’ve ever seen the performance, and it left me speechless. Oh, bless you. Like, it was incredible. Was this your first time performing in the Bahamas? It’s my first time in the Bahamas, can you believe it? Yes, absolutely. Can you come back? Yes, yes.”

Floetry is widely acknowledged for their distinctive style that combines a poetic presentation with musical purpose.

A sound that has impacted generations of artists.

Natalie characterized this achievement as fulfilling.

“It makes me my 19-year-old self who had insomnia writing Floetic, Floeism, Songstress, all of that stuff and how hard Marsha and I worked in the beginning to get everything. So it’s very satisfying in a certain way, you know.”

Though they are recognized as a British act, during our conversation, she proudly embraced her Jamaican heritage.

She expressed that performing on a stage in the Bahamas felt like home.

“I love being amongst my Caribbean people. There’s kind of nothing that really beats it, and our American cousins are here as well, you know, so it’s a big gathering, family reunion.”
