Policeman Charged After Infant Dies Following Traffic Near Miss

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A police constable is facing a serious charge following the death of his girlfriend’s ten-month-old daughter.

35-year-old Constable Paul Thompson is accused of exposing Saiesha Bartley to grievous harm on August 14th.

Thompson pleaded not guilty during his arraignment before Acting Chief Magistrate Ancella Evans, and was granted $9,500 bail.

The infant allegedly suffered a fractured leg and injuries to her head and face after Thompson swerved to avoid a collision on Prince Charles Drive.

Saiesha died a short time later at hospital.

Thompson has been suspended from duty, and his trial is set for November.
