NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Our News, the nation’s leading newscast at 7:30 pm, is expanding its lineup with the premiere of an all-new newscast at 7:00 pm on October 3, along with an online digital news platform.
With Our News at 7:00, news viewers in the country will have a trustworthy, unique and reliable news alternative at 7:00 pm for the first time.
Our News at 7:00 will be anchored by Bahamas news veteran Kendeno Knowles, who brings more than 16 years of experience to the news desk. The half-hour news program will highlight the big news stories of the day, with reporting from the national team of Our News journalists and will be a strong complementary lead-in to the flagship Our News at 7:30 presentation.
Rather than creating a single hour-long newscast, Our News will now consist of two distinct half-hour shows at 7:00 and 7:30 pm, with different anchors and unique content.
Executive Producer Jerome Sawyer says viewers will gain much more with this approach. “Our News viewers won’t just get a repeat of the same thing in the two half hour newscasts,” Sawyer said, “but they can choose to experience each show independently or together, gaining an even better grasp on the news of the day that affects them.”
Also officially launching in October is Our News.bs, REV’s dedicated news website designed to make it easier for anyone to get up-to-the-minute news on their desktop and mobile devices.
“Our News.bs is the perfect complement to Our News at 7:00 and Our News at 7:30,” said REV’s Head of Digital Kristina Dragovich.
“Anyone can watch the latest video news stories, read current news articles, and easily share those stories with their friends right from the website on social media or their favorite messaging app.”
The Our News.bs website content is managed and updated by REV’s digital news team, with new stories added throughout the day. The website makes it fast and easy to access the latest news from The Bahamas from anywhere in the world at any time of the day or night.
“Bahamians and people that care about The Bahamas are all over the world,” Dragovich said. “Now, the Bahamian diaspora can stay current and connected with everything that’s happening back home with Our News.bs, no matter where they are or what time zone they live in.”
With sections dedicated to national, regional, business, sports, crime, and lifestyle news, Our News.bs covers almost every topic of interest. The news site and broadcast shows also draw on content from partnerships with trusted news gathering organizations to bring a global perspective of today’s news.
Combining Our News.bs with Our News at 7:00 and Our News at 7:30 creates a powerful new array of news choices for viewers.
“We are focused on telling the stories that Bahamians care about and helping them navigate the events that affect them,” Sawyer continued.
“From our reliable weather forecasts by veteran meteorologist Greg Thompson, local and international sports coverage and analysis from our experienced sportscaster Marcellus Hall, to our entire team of news anchors and reporters in the field, there isn’t a single news provider in the country that delivers like Our News now does.”
Our News at 7:00 premieres on Monday, October 3rd on channel 212 at 7:00 pm, and Our News.bs is available now online.
