NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Since 2019, Idea Relief has made its mission to respond to the devastation caused by Hurricane Dorian. But they’ve expanded their work to include a very special project on New Providence.

Chief Operating Officer For Idea Relief, Jim Richard says the organization evacuated 600 people out of Abaco before larger vessels were able to enter port.

But that’s not all they did since monster storm Dorian ravaged that island in 2019.

They’ve helped with feeding thousands and in January of this year, they removed major debris from waters on that island.

This summer, the debris removal program began at the Nassau Harbor.

He said while the issue in Abaco was caused by the hurricane, there seems to be a larger, long-standing debris problem in New providence.

He said the initiative will benefit residents and visitors.

He also said the project will take four months to complete and they’re still seeking assistance.
