Jamaica Broadcasting Commission Imposes Immediate Ban

JAMAICA – The Broadcasting Commission of Jamaica is banning radio play of any music that promotes lottery scamming, the use of molly and illegal guns.

The statement from the commission today gave a directive to radio stations as a means of reinforcing its commitment to keep the airwaves free from harmful content.

The Executive Director of the Commission Cordel Green said the ban came after monitoring and decoding dialect and urban slang.

They also looked at the issue of protection versus balancing free expression.
