Activist Held Briefly Over Hospital Protest

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A local activist was held briefly by police after she went to Parliament Square to protest against what she calls a failing health system.

The emotions pouring out from activist Patrice Hanna-Carey, as she shared what led her to go to Parliament Square to criticize the healthcare system. It comes in the wake of the passing of mother-of-three Kenise Darville, who died at the public hospital. 

A viral video of Hanna-Carey’s interaction with officers was captured on a live Facebook feed.

Carey was held briefly and later released from the central police station.

She says she holds no ill will towards the officers as they were just carrying out their duties.
