Chris Hipkins Sworn in as NZ Prime Minister

NEW ZEALAND – Labour leader Chris Hipkins has been sworn in as New Zealand’s prime minister, following the resignation of Jacinda Ardern last week.

NEW ZEALAND – Labour leader Chris Hipkins has been sworn in as New Zealand’s prime minister, following the resignation of Jacinda Ardern last week.

The Labour party elected former COVID-19 response and police minister Hipkins to lead on Sunday.

The 44-year-old’s deputy Carmel Sepuloni was also sworn in as the first person of Pacific Islander descent to hold the role.
