NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The prime minister is defending his administration against criticism that government isn’t doing enough to fix the immigration issues.

Former Immigration Minister Loftus Roker told a local daily there needs to be more focus on immigration.

Just this week over 400 Haitian nationals were apprehended in Bahamian waters. Davis says this will continue, as the economic situation there worsens.

Meanwhile, former Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis is of the view that the Davis administration has its head in the sand.

Another former prime minister, Perry Christie says there will always be a need for more to be done to address the immigration issue.

Former PM Christie says there’s a great need for the government to continue to examine its policies and recognize there are thousands of descendants who are now Bahamian citizens.
