BPSU President: Address Delinquent Businesses Before Rate Hike

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Amid talks of an increase to the National Insurance Rate, Bahamas Public Services Union President Kimsley Ferguson, is suggesting the government deal with businesses that are delinquent in NIB payments first.

His comments come after the State Minister for National Insurance painted a grim future for NIB if an increase doesn’t come this year.

Ferguson who is the president of one of the largest labour bodies in the country says an increase would mostly impact workers making minimum wage.

He’s also suggesting payment ceiling be removed.
