GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – The 2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season is just weeks away and the Ministry of Works is doing its part to prepare ahead of time.

Robert Mouzas, Deputy Director at the Ministry of Works, said during Hurricane Dorian, officials learned there were not enough structures capable of withstanding the wind speeds associated with the storm.

He admits the ministry is aware of the shortage of hurricane shelters on Grand Bahama, but work is going into making them more hurricane resilient.
