NASSAU, BAHAMAS – On pure coincidence, inside of the House of Assembly debate was getting underway on procurement laws. They are seeking to repeal and replace the Public Procurement and Public Finance Management Acts of 2021.

Contributing to the debate, Labour, and Immigration Minister Keith Bell says while the bill has seen significant changes. Some key components remain to ensure transparency.

However, the opposition doesn’t support any of the amendments. East Grand Bahama Member of Parliament Kwasi Thompson says they are extremely disappointed in the amendments calling them regressive and not moving the country forward.

He claims there was no consultation.
