SUDAN – At least 185 people have been killed and over 1,800 wounded in Sudan since the fighting erupted.

The United Nations reporting as much as explosions and gunfire thundered outside the Sudanese capital Khartoum.

The unrest comes as army and a powerful rival force have battled in the streets for the past four days for control of the country.

The UN says the two sides are using tanks, artillery and other heavy weapons in densely populated areas, while fighter jets swooped overhead.

Officials say the death toll could be much higher as many bodies line the streets.

There has been no official word on how many civilians or combatants have been killed.
