NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Amid ongoing conversations about whether or not a man or woman can rape their spouse, parliamentarians have yet to debate a draft legislation on marital rape in the country.

Golden Gates MP Pia Glover-Rolle says after several town hall meetings on the issue, stakeholders say there needs to be more conversation on the matter.

Some women’s rights activist groups have said in the past they believe parliamentarians have been dragging their feet on the issue, but Glover-Rolle says she disagrees.
