NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police are investigating how more than 10 guns and ammunition got into the country.

They believe the weapons and ammunition were brought in from the United States.

Police Commissioner Clayton Fernander breaking the news to the media noting that the seizures are a result of the partnership between The Bahamas and the U.S.

Last month, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris announced the U.S. will appoint a coordinator for Caribbean firearms prosecution to address gun trafficking.

It came more than a year after Prime Minister Philip Davis said there needs to be a crackdown on gun trafficking from the U.S.
