NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Finance and accounting officers sat out on Friday. This time outside the Department of Treasury demanding their promotions and salary increases.

Finance and accounting officers are back at it again, taking a stand for their outstanding promotions and salary increases.

The move comes three weeks after the same group protested outside the Office of the Prime Minister looking for answers.

Bahamas Public Services Union president Kimsley Ferguson says he’s still trying to resolve the matter.

Ferguson says they’re still appealing for the pm to intervene in the matter.

In a statement late Thursday night, State Public Service Minister Pia Glover-Rolle said promotions will be finalized within three weeks.

It says 50% of the files are completed adding letters are currently being drafted. The remainder of the promotions however have been approved and moved on to the final steps in the process.

As a result of the swift work of public service teams, all letters are expected to be sent out within two to three weeks.

Meanwhile, Finance Officer Therena Cunningham says she’s angry and wants what she deserves.
