NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The loss of the West Grand Bahama and Bimini MP Obie Wilchcombe means a bi-election looms.
Two former MPs who served in Parliament with Wilchcombe say the one who follows will have some big shoes to fill.
Following the death of West Grand Bahama and Bimini MP Obie Wilchcombe, Prime Minister Phillip Davis will have to call a bi-election within the next few weeks.
Our News understands both the Free National Movement and Progressive Liberal Party have already started looking for potential candidates.
Former Youth, Sports and Culture Minister Dr. Daniel Johnson says bi-elections aren’t easy.
Meanwhile, Butler-Turner says the next candidates must come prepared to succeed.
They both say they were shocked and saddened by the news.
Butler-Turner says while they were on opposite sides of the political divide, he was always respectful.
Meanwhile, Johnson, who served in the Christie-led Cabinet with Wilchcombe, said they both worked as one.
