NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Sign Department in the Ministry of Works handles roadside signage throughout The Bahamas.

Their office is now under construction and according to the department superintendent, there are a few areas that top priorities.

It’s been a challenge for many motorists who weren’t clear on when to make that left turn.

Back in 2019, the former Minnis administration passed the Road Traffic Amendment regulation; among other things, the regulation allows motorists to turn left at some red lights.

David Moxey also speaks to challenges faced by the department, topping the list is vandalism and motorists running over the signs.

The department has since stocked up on materials for roadside signage.

He says private contractors have been hired to install the new signs.
