NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A Supreme Court jury deliberated for two hours before convicting 26-year-old Christopher Forbes of the rape and armed robbery of a woman during her morning walk.

Forbes will appear before Justice Jeanine Weech-Gomez for the penalty phase of his trial on December 6.

The victim was walking on Marshall Road on May 6, 2022, when she was confronted by Forbes who was armed with a cutlass.

He dragged her into the bushes, where he raped her twice. Then, he took two cellphones from her.

Forbes confessed to raping and robbing the married, mother of five in his videotaped police interview.

But he claimed the sex was consensual at his trial.

Forbes, who fired his lawyer and represented himself, did not call any witnesses at his trial or take the witness stand.

He committed the offenses months after being freed from prison after serving time for similar crimes.
