USA – A federal judge in Miami sentenced former Haitian Senator John Joel Joseph to life in prison for conspiring to kill President Jovenel Moïse in 2021.
USA – A federal judge in Miami sentenced former Haitian Senator John Joel Joseph to life in prison for conspiring to kill President Jovenel Moïse in 2021.
Joseph, who was extradited from Jamaica, is the third of 11 suspects sentenced in a plot involving mercenaries.
Moïse was slain in July 2021, leading to unprecedented turmoil in Haiti.
Despite Joseph’s plea for mercy, the judge handed down the maximum sentence, citing the dangerous territory involved.
Seven more defendants await trial in South Florida.
