Cartwright Considering FNM Leadership Bid

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – One day after Central Grand Bahama Member of Parliament Iram Lewis announced he will run for Free National Movement Leader, another FNM MP revealed he is also contemplating a leadership bid.

St. Barnabas MP Shannendon Cartwright suggesting he is seriously considering a leadership bid at the Free National Movement Convention next month.

Before he makes a final decision on whether to throw his hat into the ring, Cartwright said he is currently consulting with those closest to him.

On the heels of its overwhelming loss at the polls last month, the FNM will hold a convention on November 27th to elect a new leader.

Cartwright, who first won the St. Barnabas seat in 2017, was one of the few FNM incumbents to be re-elected on September 16th.

He served as chairman of the Public Parks and Public Beaches Authority under the Minnis administration.

Heading into the one-day convention, he said the party must assess where it is now and chart the way forward.

On Wednesday, Central Grand Bahama MP Iram Lewis announced his plan to run for FNM leader.

It is rumored that Marco City MP Michael Pintard may do the same.

FNM leader Dr Hubert Minnis has dodged questions about another leadership bid but he suggested that will be revealed at the party’s anniversary church service on Sunday.
