Adina Munroe-Charlow: I Didn’t Know People Were Watching Me

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – When King Charles announced his 2024 New Year honors list, there was a familiar name among those recognized.

Adina Munroe-Charlow was made a member of the order of the British Empire for her dedicated service to world war two veterans through chairing the British Legion Bahamas Branch.

British High Commissioner Thomas Hartley, explains the significance of this recognition from the king.

Sixty-six World War II veterans were alive at the time. Now, Munroe-Charlow says only two are left still living in The Bahamas.

As military training is a requirement for executive level positions of the British Legion Bahamas branch, Munroe-Charlow enrolled in first the Royal Bahamas Defense Force reserve unit in her late 40s.

She says she understands now why it was so important.

When we asked Munroe-Charlow how she reacted to the news of being on the King’s New Year’s honors list, she says reality hasn’t fully hit her yet.
