The Rebels Beat University of Florida 77-67

Gainsville, FL, USA. Grand Bahama Native Yolett McPhee-McCuin and her University of Mississippi Rebels came into Thursday night’s away game against The University of Florida determined to get a win, despite giving up an early lead.

“We had a talk in the huddle and [my players] said they’re not leaving here without a win”, she said in the postgame presser. Ole Miss suffered losses in their previous two games to number-one-ranked South Carolina and Texas A&M.

Down 22-9 at the end of the first quarter, the Rebels scratched and clawed their way against a tough, UF squad but they were still down 34-27 at the half.

They fought in the second half finishing regulation with a 64-64 stalemate, forcing an overtime where they would finally wear down the Gators, taking the lead thanks to 6 straight points from Marquesha Davis and Madison Scott.

Scott led the Rebels with a career high 27 points along with 12 rebounds and 2 steals. Davis also had a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Kennedy Todd-Williams had 18 and 9 as well.

Ole Miss has a chance to get a streak going when they play heated in-state rival Mississippi State on Sunday afternoon.
