NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Should they be needed, officers of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force stand ready to support a multinational force in Haiti.

And they have the experience necessary. 

Officer-In-Charge of Deployments Captain Frederick Brown points to the challenges in Haiti dating back to the 90s.

RBDF has a readiness committee whose job it is to ensure the force remains properly trained and resourced should they need to be deployed. 

Conditions in Haiti have worsened in recent months with gangs seizing control of the streets in fierce opposition to  President Ariel Henry who has since resigned.

CARICOM announced a transitional government to lead the process of electing a new government.

Senior Commander William Stirrup who heads operations explains, should the need arise, the Maritime Unit will focus on the protection of our southern borders.
