NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The release of the Royal Bahamas Annual Crime Report for 2023 is three months behind schedule so why the delay?

I sought to get answers from the police commissioner. He says the report was already completed.

It’s customary for the commissioners of police to reveal their annual report revealing crime stats from the year before and any notable trends.

Nearly four months into 2024 and that report hasn’t been officially revealed as yet.

The annual report is normally revealed within the first two months of the new year.

In 2023, Fernander delivered the 2022 Annual Report on January 27th, 2023.

In 2022, former Commissioner of Police Paul Rolle revealed these number on February 17th, 2022.

And in 2021, Rolle released those statistics on January 18th, 2021 for the year 2020.

Back in January, National Security Minister Wayne Munroe told a local daily that overall crime was down 20 percent but that rapes were up 11 percent.

Weeks late, Fernander gave this reason why the stats were delayed.
