GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Labour leaders in Grand Bahama shared some of the issues they say are still affecting workers across the country.

President of the Bahamas Educators, Counselors and Allied Workers Union Sandra Major acknowledges the government’s efforts with signing several industrial agreements but she says it’s also their job to follow up on what was agreed upon by both parties.

As it relates to confirmation letters…

Area Vice President of the Bahamas Communications and Public Officers Union Charlis Ellis says some contracts with the union have not been signed.

Unionist, Julian Dolye Russell claims on some construction sites in Grand Bahama, it appears, more foreigners are being employed rather than Grand Bahamians.

And with Labour Day set to be celebrated on Friday, June 7th, Ellis says she hopes that these concerns are not only addressed temporarily but permanently.
