SOUTH KOREA – South Korea summoned the Russian ambassador Friday over Moscow’s new defense pact with North Korea amidst rising tensions.

The move followed threats and minor border incursions by North Korean troops, and came days after Moscow and Pyongyang agreed to mutual defense.

South Korea responded by considering arms support for Ukraine, prompting Seoul to protest to Moscow, citing violations of UN resolutions and threats to its security.

Russia defended its actions, denying targeting any specific country.
