DOMINIC REPUBLIC – Luis Abinader was sworn in for his second term as President of the Dominican Republic on Friday. In his inaugural address, Abinader criticized political violence and a lack of transparency following Venezuela’s recent elections.

He also called for the urgent deployment of a long-awaited security mission to Haiti but emphasized that the Dominican Republic would not intervene directly.

Abinader, who won 58% of the vote in may, secured his re-election on a pro-business platform and a firm stance against corruption and illegal migration from Haiti.
