NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man accused of killing a former MP during an armed robbery will remain behind bars after a judge refused him bail.

Justice Neil Brathwaite denied bail to Jaico Choute. His alleged accomplice Nicarson Nixon was denied bail last month.

Choute and Nixon are charged with the March 27 murder of Donald Saunders.

The former deputy speaker was at Rags Bar in Gambier Village when two men robbed the establishment of $650.

Prosecutors say Saunders was shot in the neck when the men tried to rob him.
