NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The fate of 14 officers involved in deadly police shootings remain in limbo as the Director of Public Prosecutions has not decided whether they’ll be prosecuted.

Eleven of those officers were ordered to return to court on November 15 when it’s expected that the DPP will decide on the way forward

Coroner’s juries returned verdicts of homicide by manslaughter in the fatal shootings of Deangelo Evans, Shanton Forbes, Azario Major, Harold Brown, Richard Bastian, Valentino Johnson, Gino Finley Jr, Elroy Stubbs and Ernest Forest.

As a result of the finding, Coroner Kara Turnquest-Deveaux last week summoned the officers to appear in court.

Following a brief hearing, she set bail at $9 500 for Inspector Akeem Wilson, 3906 Wright, PC 3731 Kevin Greenslade Jr, Robert Young, Sergeant 2825 Anton Sweeting, 3039 Jamal Johnson, Sergeant Deangelo Rolle, Inspector Aaron Wilson, 3353 Phillipian Brown, PC Sturrup and Inspector Hervis Curtis, as they await the DPP’s decision.

Arrest warrants remain outstanding for former officers Shando King, Samuel Ferguson, and 3139 Deveaux.
