FLORIDA – More than 2.5 million customers in Florida were still without power more than a day after monster storm Milton ravaged parts of the state. Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis says the death toll from the storm has risen to at least 16.

Nearly 1,000 people have been rescued so far, with thousands of personnel deployed across the state. The Coast Guard has reopened some ports following Hurricane Milton, including Key West and Port Miami. Several other ports in Florida, including St. Petersburg and Fort Myers, remain closed.

Hurricane Milton made landfall on Florida’s west coast on Wednesday evening and spent about 12 hours crossing central Florida.
